Our last coverage map was only 2 weeks ago and we already have an update for you guys. This time not just a coverage map but a full report concerning our network quality. This analysis was performed by an independent, German company named Net Check. We’re happy to see that KPN’s hard work is paying off and of course we would like to share these results with our Vikings, so here they are.
The first factor that was analyzed was the voice network. The call success rate was based on network access, service access, dropped calls and speech calls. Net check performed 7000 test calls over 12.500 KM of test route. Here we’re happy to see that our voice network gained a call success rate of 98%!
Next our 3G coverage! We are definitely heading into the right the direction. Our 3G national coverage is now 90,6%.
On top of this, we also learned that most of our 3G network uses the HSPA+ technology, which is the fastest technology available. As you can see Net Check also performed some speed tests (outdoors), the results can be found below.
As you can see a lot of work has been done to improve our network and we’ll definitely continue to keep you up to date concerning the progress. If you have specific problems about your coverage, please feel free to contact us.
Are those download rates based upon multiple real life situations with smartphones?
I can’t believe these speeds are realistic. I checked several times with the speedstest.net application and never experienced speeds over 2Mbps..

These tests have been performed in real life situations (outdoors). Of course this location based. The figures we’re showing is an average.

Ik ben een trouwe MV-klant, en zal dat wss nog lang blijven, maar is er bij Base geen limiet van 1mb/s

Uit tests leren we dat deze speedcap van 1mb/s niet langer van toepassing is!

je ne suis pas trop d’accord sur certain point, exemple :
à liège (luik) zone guillemins, j’ai un débit de 10.5 méga (parfait)
mais zone du longdoz (liège toujours), je suis en EDGE alors que je suis tujours en ville
proximus lui a un débit de 7 à 8 méga constant mais 3G partout
par contre dans la région de tournai (doornik) la 3G et parfaite, pas ultra rapide 4-5 mégas mais stable
mais j’avoue que KPN a fait des efforts mais il faut penser au SUD du pays et pas que la flandres car là, no comment….

Les tableaux ci-dessus ne sont que des résultats globaux, et ne sont donc pas représentants pour un endroit spécifique.
En effet, c’est vrai que le réseau en Wallonie est moins bien, mais KPN y travaille tous les jours pour étendre la portée du réseau.

0,21 procent HSPA+ bij Proximus? Wat een onzin, ik ontvang zo goed als overal daarop, en 53 procent bij base? Bleek meestal op Edge steken…
HSPA en HSPA+ zijn niet hetzelfde.
Bart heeft toch gelijk hoor Koen. Proximus heeft recent HSPA+ (en niet gewoon HSPA) geactiveerd. Dus de resultaten uit dit onderzoek zijn eigenlijk niet meer up to date.

This does not measure the coverage in the center of Brussels (Grand Place and surroundings) where accessing internet is almost impossible. On the top of that on the E411 after Namen, the coverage is really poor.

This report only gives a global image. In general a lot of improvement has been made but for some specific locations we know there’s still a lot of work. For Brussels however the limited coverage might be due to limits of radiation that are imposed by the local government.

Only Edge in Zolder, I actually believe most of Limburg doesn’t have a 3G network available.

I can assure you, as a Proximus client, that there is way lot more than 0,21% of HSPA+ coverage in Belgium by Proximus… I dunno how they did this test, but
Like already mentioned above, HSPA+ is not the same as HSPA.
You should have a closer look at the results…
Proximus has just rolled out the HSPA+ technology, so the information is not up to date any more.
Especially the 3g speeds. These test were conducted in march 2012 (according the figure), when there was still a cap at 1 mbps. So the network was not burdened very much.
I do believe Base has made great improvements on their 3g network, but the figures stated in this research are just not up to date, and therefore don’t represent the the reality
Toen ik gisteren de resultaten van het onderzoek zag wou ik ook de snelheid testen.
Bij mijn vriendin in Halen haalde ik gisteren een mooie snelheid:

Alleen bij mijn thuis heb ik helaas geen 3G / HSPA +. Maar met de effort die er momenteel in gestoken wordt ben ik er zeker van dat dat binnenkort gaat veranderen.

Het hele Base 3G netwerk is nieuw en HSPA+, het Proximus netwerk is 10 jaar oud, duur betaald en afgeschreven!!! Proximus heeft de kosten nog steeds niet terugverdient, daar is al lang niet meer in geinvesteerd!!!
Proximus heeft nochtans een jaar geleden zijn netwerkapparatuur volledig vernieuwd en klaargemaakt voor 4G. Ze bieden ook sinds vorige maand HSPA+ aan. Het blijkt dus dat niet het netwerk van Proximus dat verouderd is, maar wel uw informatie..
Waarom heeft Proximus dan nu geen landelijke 4G dekking als ze alles vernieuwd hebben, enkel 8 steden, die 1800 frequentie is toch al waardeloos voor landelijke dekking!!!
Je geeft het antwoord al zelf.. Als de 800 MHz geveild is zal 4G ook interessant worden om op het platteland uit te rollen en tot een landelijke dekking te komen.
Trouwens het is niet omdat de antennes 4G kunnen uitzenden dat deze dit al doen. Eerst moeten de nodige vergunningen in orde zijn, en alles geoptimaliseerd worden.

Het bericht waarna je verwijst dateert van 2 jaar geleden, terwijl hspa 2 jaar later nauwelijks meetbaar is, denk je echt dat ze gaan investeren voordat ze de frequentie hebben, ik ook niet!!!
Misschien is dit, Marcel, omdat Proximus dit nog niet geactiveerd had toen Base 1 jaar geleden deze tests hierboven liet uitvoeren.
Over welke frequenties heb jij het nu? HSPA+ bouwt verder op de 3G technologie, dus hiervoor geen andere frequentie gekocht worden…

P.S.: Voordat je uzelf nog belachelijker gaat maken, stel ik voor dat je u eerst deftig informeert, alvorens de kritische uit te hangen, met foutieve informatie..
In jou artikel van 2 jaar geleden staat dat Proximus al helemaal LTE ready is, lijkt me stug, ze bezitten niet eens 800 frequentie!!!
Verder geeft jou artikel aan dat bij Proximus pas dit jaar HSPA+ heeft geactiveerd in een beperkt gebied, dus de Netcheck metingen kloppen wel!!!
Moeten ze dan de 800 MHz frequentie bezitten? LTE kan ook uitgerold worden op de 1800 en 2600 MHz, dit is Proximus ook aan het doen. Net zoals Base en Mobistar deze 2 frequenties eerst zullen gebruiken om LTE uit te rollen. Het artikel gaat trouwens niet over frequenties, maar wel over de antennes die geupgrade zijn om HSPA+ en LTE te kunnen aanbieden.
Heeft iemand hier ooit beweerd dat de netcheck metingen niet kloppen? Wel dat ze niet meer up to date zijn( zijn een jaar oud). Waar Proximus juist HSPA+ heeft uitgerold is niet officieel bekend, maar zal allesinds hoger liggen dan 0,21% (als je weet dat grote steden zoals Gent,.. HSPA+ dekking hebben). Op het forum posten gebruikers enkel een aantal plaatsen waar zij HSPA+ hebben opgemerkt, maar de lijst op dit (en andere forums) is uiteraard niet volledig.
Ochja, ik geef het op. Sommige mensen zullen nu eenmaal nooit voor rede vatbaar zijn…
Euhm ik wil hier nu ni vervelend doen maar de 1mbps cap bestaat nog wel degelijk, enkel voor data-only opties (Bij Base) is er geen cap, op de gsm is er nog steeds (spijtig genoeg) een 1mbps beperking…wat stilaan serieus mn voeten begint uit te hangen^^ Het verschil met proximus hier in Antwerpen is enorm…
